The University awarded a contract for supplemental clinical training.
The University requires its medical and dental students and residents to participate in clinical education which involves an interaction with members of the general public and recognizes that other health care facilities are necessary in order to allow UIC to attain their educational mission. To this end, UIC wishes to enter into this educational affiliation agreement in order to provide supplemental clinical training opportunities for its undergraduate medical and dental students and its graduate medical education residents and fellows.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for placement of students in externships, practicums, field experiences, and for medical residencies and rotations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(6)) Medical students need core clinical training rotations in order to graduate and Advocate has several facilities for this training to allow students to complete their clinical education.
