The University awarded a contract for a coagulation system.
Erbe Argon Plasma Coagulation System (APC) is a monopolar electrosurgical device used for the delivery of high frequency electrical current to cut and or coagulate tissue via universal instruments.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Erbe USA, is the current provider at UI Health. Erbe USA, seeks to ensure our hospital remains competent and educated on an ongoing annual basis. This includes education and in-servicing to all current and newly hired registered nurses and technicians. Electro-surgery lectures and hands on workshops are conducted annually to the department Fellows and Attending Physicians.
