The University awarded a contract for a Monitor/Defibrillator.
The LIFEPAK 15 Monitor/Defibrillator is a lifesaving device for patients in cardiac arrest that deliver therapies such as defibrillation, pacing, and/or synchronized cardioversion.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Defibrillators/Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are the standard of care to treat patients in cardiac arrest according to hospital protocols and American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines.
