The Ultrasound Platform is used on patients to view entire eye images.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This ultrasound equipment is used directly on patients to view entire eye images not possible without the equipment. The ultrasound uses probes on patients that provides different images for all clinical purposes. This equipment has technology that increases depth of field by 70%, increases lateral resolution by 27%, and maintains high axial resolution.
