The University awarded a contract for an APLIO I900 Ultrasound System.
The purchase of this ultrasound machine is in the best interest of the University because it will support the research done by Department of Medicine-Endocrinology, which supports the University mission to enhance its research.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) Three quotes were obtained from different vendors and this is the best price for the machine specifications required.
