University of Illinois at Chicago
Announcement of an Exempt Purchase
Vendor: Stryker Sales Corp.
Change Order Amount: $130,000
This change order for Stryker Neuro Power Tools is to include the 5-year service contract, which was not initially included because the department was under the impression that the service had to be procured separately as a sole source. The change order to the original exemption permits us to treat the exemption as a single transaction.
The Chief Procurement Officer for this procurement is now John Donato.
The State Purchasing Officer for this procurement is now Lee Saulter.
The University award process may be delayed up to thirty days as this award goes through a state approval process.

The University awarded a contract for Neuro Power Tools and Accessories.
Powered instruments and accessories are used to cut, shape, fixate, and dissect bone as well as to fragment, emulsify and aspirate soft tissue in all types of procedures, from reconstructive, sports med and extremities, to the most complex in neurosurgery, spine, and ENT.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Without access to these supplies, UI Health would not be able to offer life saving and preventative surgeries to our patients.
