The University awarded a contract for Agilent 6470 Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer.
The Agilent 6470 triple quadrupole mass spectrometer delivers reliable performance and high versatility for commercial, life sciences research, and regulatory applications, for example routine monitoring and testing of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substance Standards (PFAS) in the environment. Through a large choice of ion sources, to confidently tackle any Coupling liquid chromatography (LC) with mass spectrometry (MS) LC-MS analysis demands. With best-in-class sensitivity, precision, and scan speed, researchers can use less or diluted sample amounts and still be highly confident in the accuracy of your results.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The current instrument in the Mass Spectrometry Core is over 10 years old and can no longer perform with the current demand for services. In order to continue providing the service in the core and generate revenue, we will need to replace the current instrument.
