Project Description
The Engineering Sciences Building, construction in 1967, was previously used as office and computer space for the Coordinated Science Laboratory. The proposed remodeling will consist of converting the existing separate offices into research facilities for the Department of Physics, including seminar conference rooms, research offices, secure computer rooms, reception areas for the major work groups, a communal office for active emeriti, and open discussion areas. One important consideration is to increase light and open spaces, making a more spacious and appealing environment for work and study that promotes interactions among faculty and students.
The scope of work will include new partitions, flooring and ceilings as well as new ventilation systems and lighting. A feasibility study has been completed by an A/E firm and will form the basis of the remodeling project.
