Request for Professional Services Qualifications (QBS): South Research Park Sanitary Sewer Study

This solicitation will not be awarded
Published Thursday April 26, 2001

At the present time, we are re-evaluating the process for deciding the best method for providing sanitary service to the South Research Park. It is probable that some professional effort will yet be required to assist us in making that decision.

Qualifications and supporting materials will be accepted at the address below until 4:00 PM, Friday September 22, 2000:

506 South Wright Street
Urbana, IL 61801-3684

Project Description
The project consists of providing professional engineering to evaluate the best method of providing sanitary sewer service to the expanded boundaries of the South Center of the Research Park at the UIUC. The specific service area is bounded by St. Mary's Road, Fourth Street extended, Windsor Road and South First Street. Continued development within this area is contingent upon the provision of sanitary sewer service.

The closest existing sanitary sewer service is at the UIUC South Lift Station located east of the new service area. The South Lift station pumps, via the Matthews Avenue sanitary sewer, to the North Lift Station. The North Lift Station pumps to a UCSD interceptor.

The engineer shall work with UIUC personnel in conjunction with personnel from the Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District (UCSD). Available data includes previous studies of the Matthews Avenue Sanitary Sewer system completed in the late 1980s, and projected flows from the new service area.

Options for providing service include, but are not limited to: permanent and/or temporary flow to the existing South Lift Station; provision of new interceptor sewer by the UCSD; and a new treatment plant. Components of the evaluation shall include cost and implementation time.
