Description of Project
The College of Commerce and Business Administration is seeking an architect to help in determining the feasibility of constructing a new state-of-the-art educational facility of approximately 35,000 NASF immediately west of Wohlers Hall (formerly Commerce West). The goal of the feasibility study will be to result in a design that accommodates all program elements and embodies the College's long-standing commitment to excellence in scholarship, academics, and service. The successful design will be both award-worthy and respectful of the existing campus fabric. To accommodate the flow of funding, it is proposed the facility be constructed in two phases. The first phase will be a new MBA Center with administrative offices and at least ten classrooms. Also, there will be a connecting structure containing: a large foyer with informal reception space and coffee bar on the first level, a large theatre style auditorium with foyer/reception space, a career services center with at least 20 interview/team project rooms, and a medium size executive meeting/dining space with catering kitchen. The second phase will consist of another instructional wing to mirror the MBA Center.

Funding for this facility will be sought from private donors (both individuals and corporations), the University, and the State of Illinois. Graphics to support this fund raising effort will be required.

The initial commission will be limited to the preparation of a feasibility study. Should the project proceed, the retained architect would be considered for completion of the balance of the project.
