Description of Project
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks to employ a qualified A/E firm to assist in developing a comprehensive master plan for the third and fourth floors of Roger Adams Laboratory. A large percentage of the area on both floors is currently dedicated to chemistry and biochemistry research laboratories, with lesser concentrations of offices and computer labs.
The selected firm will work with owner's designated personnel to establish and understand goals and objectives, develop a short range and long range program for the noted project areas, develop design concepts, prepare a master plan report, and prepare schematic design level drawings. In addition, an understanding of existing building systems will be imperative, and long-range systems planning will also be included in the scope of this study. There will also be a need to assess existing electrical systems and capacities, with emphasis on determining appropriate upgrades.
The master plan report should respond to the anticipated need to implement the work in phases of construction over a period of time. The successful firm will be expected to work with Owner's designated personnel to develop a series of potential phases, each phase an individual component within the overall master plan context
