Comments:
The space located at 200 S. Wacker Dr., Chicago was selected after the selection committed performed a detailed analysis comparing locations and financial terms and performing other due diligence The committee determined it was in the best interest of the University and State to expand at the current site and that the significant benefits outweighed the additional cost of relocation. Expanding at the existing site will allow the DPI to build upon and synergize with its existing presence on the 4th floor, while also addressing social distancing. Building the DPI at one location will maximize operational efficiencies and continuity of programming, foster collaborations, as well as build upon and support brand awareness for the University of Illinois and the DPI. The fixed expansion opportunity only offered by the selected landlord would also eliminate many of the financial unknowns related to future expansion of an unknown size, timing, and cost.

The University award process may be delayed up to thirty days as this award goes through a state approval process.

The University wishes to lease office space located at Chicago, IL for a period of 5 years with options. This property will be used for DPI.

This notice was published on 3/6/2020 under RFI #20200306JT through 4/3/2020. This is a repost as it was entered as a RFI instead of a Real Property RFI. This notice is no longer open.

The University wishes to lease professional Class A or Class B office space located within a six (6) block radius centered on the current location at 200 S. Wacker, Chicago, for a period of five (5) years with options. This property will be used for administrative and meeting functions.

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois is soliciting information from qualified respondents regarding the availability of Class A or Class B office space on behalf of its Discovery Partners Institute (DPI) for administrative and meeting functions by approximately 100 DPI staff and staff and members of affiliated organizations and companies. This space must be located within a six block radius centered on its current location at 200 S. Wacker, Chicago.

DPI is rapidly growing and will need additional office and meeting space to accommodate its expanding programming and staff count. The RFI request is for approximately a 22,000-26,000 rentable square foot space. The preferred term is 5 years plus two (2) 1-year option terms followed by one (1) 3-year option term.
