The Board of Trustees of U of Illinois Facilities Planning and Programs hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the Chicago Circle Center - Renewal - Ventilation REBID - at University of Illinois Chicago project.

Project Description
The project consists of the renovation of the First and Second floor Concourse to add a new vestibule and storefront at the East side of the building. New storefront at the west side of the building, with an alternate for a new canopy at the West side. A partial concrete deck restoration and patch at the first floor ceiling. Renovation and cleaning of floor and a new ceiling finish with the addition of new wall elements and custom furniture (first and second floor). Addition of a new HVAC system for the entire first floor concourse area. A new 36-foot tall glass enclosure system on the second floor east terrace with custom lighting system, new finishes, electrical system and related additions. The second floor west terrace will be substantially upgraded as well, but will remain an exterior space. The guardrail system will be modified and extended. The inner circle perimeter wall will be modified with new punched openings as an alternate. The entire area will be re-roofed and a pedestal paver system will be installed. The ceilings in both spaces will be painted. At the first floor, a SINC office will be constructed in the northeast corner of the concourse and new drop soffits will be added to the other three corners. The main entry point of the bookstore will be moved to the east side and display windows will be added at both the east and west. Several existing 10-foot high patio and interior doors will be replaced with 8-foot door and transoms. The existing AHU-9 that serves the Inner Circle Caf´┐Ż will be replaced with a new unit that will supply this space as well as the enclosed east terrace; the exhaust fan will also be replaced. The substantial renovation of many interior spaces is also part of this renewal project. A new stair will be installed between the first, second, and third floors to facilitate circulation between the two new lounge spaces and a future lounge on the third floor. The fourth floor will be redeveloped into the largest computer lab at UIC. A new entry will be added to the link between the tower and the main union to the south. The second floor common areas will be completely renovated to include casual lounges, postal services, vending, and new retail options. A new community environment will be developed for the Student Government and Student groups with the complete renewal of the Third Floor South. These projects as well as several other improvements will occur while the building is in operation.

Pre-Bid Conference
A pre-bid conference will be held in room 244 , 1140 South Paulina Street, Chicago, IL. at 10:00 a.m. prevailing time on Wednesday, April 18th , 2001. Representatives of the owner will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
