The Board of Trustees of U of Illinois Facilities Planning and Programs hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the Chicago Illini Union - Student Residence Hall Renovation at the University of Illinois - Chicago project.

Project Description
The scope of work for this project includes a new entrance on the north side. It includes the following: Remodeling a portion of the 1st floor of the Student Residence Hall to create a new student lounge, dining area, and a new food court; Installing stairs to the 2nd floor at the existing elevator lobby; Upgrading the existing dining room and kitchen; Remodeling all restrooms on the 1st and 2nd floor of the Chicago Illini Union; Upgrading the 2nd floor Chicago meeting rooms; and Furnishing and installing a new elevator from the basement to 3rd floor of the Chicago Illini Union.

Bid Dates
Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:30 p.m. prevailing time, on Tuesday, March 12, 2002 for Divisions II - Plumbing and Sprinkler work; Division III - Heating and Piping work; Division IV - Ventilation and Temperature Control work and Division V - Electrical work bids will be received up to the hour of 2:30 p.m. prevailing time, on Monday, March 18, 2002, for Division I - General work. Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:30 PM local time, on Monday, March 18, 2002. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

Pre-Bid Conference
A pre-bid conference will be held at the Chicago Illini Union, 828 South Wolcott, in Chicago Room B, Chicago, Illinois 60612 at 10:00 a.m. prevailing time on Monday, February 25, 2002. Representatives of the owner and the architect/engineer will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
