The Board of Trustees of U of Illinois Facilities Planning and Programs hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the UIC Hospital - Replace Cart Lift at Chicago.

Project Description
The scope of work primarily includes, but is not limited to, demolition and discarding of existing hydraulic cart lift elevator and associated machine room, hoist-way and pit equipment; installing an overhead traction type vertical reciprocating conveyor with manually operating car and hoistway doors in the existing vacated hoistway. The conveyor car shall have inside dimensions equal to existing cart lift car. The work also includes providing service tool and training to UIC elevator mechanics, and providing warranty service. Scope will also include selective demolition, constructing fire rated wall with self closing, self locking door, installing access door in hoist-way, installing platform inside the hoist-way and installing a ladder for access to the traction machine.

Bids will be received up to the hour of 10:00 AM local time, on Wednesday, October 30, 2002. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

Pre-Bid Conference
A pre-bid conference will be held in the large conference room, Room 244, of the Paulina Street Building at 10:00 a.m., prevailing time on Monday, October 21, 2002. Representatives of the Hospital Administration and the Office for Capital Programs will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
