Project Description
The project consists of an 'L' shaped two-story building with a basement organized around a smaller, one-story building with an exterior courtyard/garden separating the two structures. The west side of the site also includes a small parking lot for 12 cars and service access to the building. The main building of Christopher Hall contains offices, meeting rooms, research rooms, classrooms, library and storage rooms and associated support spaces including mechanical and toilet rooms. The smaller building simulates a home environment with a living room and kitchen used for observation of families as part of the research function of the Family Resiliency Program. Both buildings utilize steel frame construction with open web steel joints in combination with load bearing concrete masonry unit walls with brick veneer and precast elements on the exterior, concrete tile roofs, and typical interior construction utilizing drywall on steel studs.
