The Board of Trustees of U of Illinois Facilities Planning and Programs hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the South Farms Relocation, Phase One Implementation at the Urbana Campus project.

Project Description
The project consists of performing construction of a new beef/sheep unit, renovation and new construction of summer pasture (working facility), and off site utility extensions. The work includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Work indicated by contract documents, dated May 28, 2003, prepared by A. Epstein and Sons International Inc., 600 West Fulton Street, Chicago, Illinois 60661.
  • New beef/sheep unit consisting of 1 office building, 18 agricultural buildings/barns, 10 above ground glass lined steel tanks, 3 grain silos, site utilities (natural gas, electric, telecommunications, water, sewer, storm sewer), detention ponds, parking lot and internal gravel roads.
  • Renovation and new construction of summer pasture (working facility) consisting of modification to existing animal working facility, construction of 6 new shade structures, and a construction of a gravel road.
  • Off site utilities consisting of water mains, natural gas, electrical and telecommunications (conduit, fiber optic, and copper twisted pair).
  • Miscellaneous associated work, except for work performed by owner or under separate contracts.

Bid Dates
Bids will be received up to the hour of 10:00 a.m. prevailing time, on June 24, 2003, for Divisions II through V work. Bids will be received up to the hour of 3:00 p.m. prevailing time, on June 24, 2003 for Division I work. Submit all proposals to the Board of Trustees at:

Pre-Bid Conference
A pre-bid conference will be held Room 128 Physical Plant, 1501 S. Oak Street, Champaign, Illinois, 61820 at 1:30 p.m. prevailing time on June 10, 2003. Representatives of the owner and the architect/engineer will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
