The Board of Trustees of U of Illinois Facilities Planning and Programs hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the the Asian American Cultural Center at the Urbana campus.
The project consists of construction of a new wood-framed, two-story plus basement, 56' x 38' building; including minor remodeling of, and addition to an existing wood-framed building on the same site. Work includes, but is not limited to, concrete work, miscellaneous structural steel and steel stairs, wood framing and sheathing, basement waterproofing, E. I. F. system, fiber-cement siding, wood windows, roofing work (asphalt shingles and E. P. D. M.), interior finishes including metal frames, wood doors, gypsum board work, resilient and carpet flooring, painting, accessories and a 3-stop hydraulic elevator. Mechanical/Electrical work includes plumbing, fire protection, gas-fired DX HVAC systems, new electrical services and power/lighting/communications and fire alarm work.
This project includes a project labor agreement that will be executed between the lowest responsive/responsible bidder and the East Central Building & Construction Trades Council. A copy of the project labor agreement is included in the project bid documents, General Project Requirements.
Bids for Divisions II, IV, V and VI work will be received up to the hour of 10:00 a.m. prevailing time, on Tuesday, July 27, 2004. Bids for Division I work will be received up to the hour of 2:00 p.m. prevailing time, on Thursday, July 29, 2004. The owner shall assign the contracts for Contract Divisions II, IV, V and VI Work to the Contract Division I (General Contractor) in accordance with Article 6.2 of the General Conditions. Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Thursday, July 29, 2004. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.
A pre-bid conference will be held at the Asian Studies Building conference room, 1208 W. Nevada Ave., Urbana, IL at 2:00 p.m. prevailing time on Tuesday, July 20, 2004. Representatives of the owner and the professional services consultant will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
