The Board of Trustees of U of Illinois Facilities Planning and Programs hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the the Roger Adams Laboratory Kenis Pack Laboratory Renovations project at the - Urbana campus project.

Project Description
The project consists of comprehensive renovations to 3 new research labs at the Roger Adams Laboratory building, including structural, architectural, lab casework, mechanical, fire protection and electrical trades Work. The Dan Pack Lab includes lab, equipment and student office space comprising approximately 1,800 SF located at the ground floor level. The Paul Kenis/Chris Rao Lab includes lab, equipment, warm room and student office space comprising approximately 4,550 SF located at the second floor level.

The project includes a project labor agreement that will be executed between the lowest responsive/responsible bidder and the East Central Building and Construction Trades Council. A copy of the project labor agreement is included in the project bid documents, General Project Requirements.

Bid Document Sources
Bid documents have been prepared by HarleyEllis, 401 West Superior, Chicago, IL 60610, (312) 951-8863, hereinafter referred to as the professional services consultant. The bid documents may be obtained from Dean's Superior Blueprint by depositing a check in the amount of $150 for each set, payable to the Professional Services Consultant. Limit of 5 sets for Prime contractor and 3 sets for Assigned subcontractor OR non-cash plan deposit programs which are guaranteed by contractor associations (all returns go to Dean's Superior Blueprint).

Prequalification
Each bidder shall prequalify with the owner in accordance with the General Instructions to Bidders (Document 00200).

Bid Dates
Bids for Divisions II through VI (Plumbing ? Sprinkler) work will be received up to the hour of 10:00 a.m. prevailing time, on Wednesday, April 6, 2005. Bids for Division I work will be received up to the hour of 2:00 p.m. prevailing time, on Wednesday, April 6, 2005. The owner shall assign the contracts for Contract Divisions II - VI Work to the Contract Division I (General Contractor) in accordance with Article 6.2 of the General Conditions. (Refer to Articles 6.2 and 15 of the General Conditions for requirements concerning assignments of contracts.) Submit all proposals to the owner at:

Bid Opening
Immediately after the closing time for receiving bids, all proposals will be publicly opened, read, and tabulated in Room #143, Physical Plant Services Building, 1501 S. Oak Street, Champaign, IL 61820. Noted errors, omissions and defects will be announced. Bids received after closing time will be returned unopened. The public opening and reading is for information only and is not construed as acceptance or rejection of any bid.

Bid Acceptance or Rejection
The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids or any part thereof, to waive any informalities in the bidding, and to accept the bids deemed to be in the best interests of the owner after all bids have been examined and evaluated.

Statutory Requirements
The successful bidder will be required to comply with all laws, statutes, regulations, ordinances, rulings or enactments of any governmental authority that are applicable to the work or to the project. The successful bidder shall pay prevailing wages and shall utilize equal employment opportunity hiring practices in connection with this project.

Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Wednesday, April 6, 2005. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

Pre-Bid Meeting
A pre-bid meeting will be held in Room #117, Roger Adams Laboratory, 600 South Mathews Street, Champaign, Illinois at 10:00 a.m. prevailing time on Tuesday, March 22, 2005. Representatives of the owner and the professional services consultant will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
