The Board of Trustees of U of Illinois Facilities Planning and Programs hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the the Freer Hall - New Research Lab Development project at the Urbana campus project.
Project Description
This project will consist of complete remodeling of approximately 3,600 sf. of existing locker room, showers and miscellaneous offices to create new research labs, offices, dark room, storage room, mechanical space, accessibility ramp, etc. Work includes selective demolition, cast in place concrete, concrete masonry, pipe handrail, metal stud and gypsum board partitions, resilient tile flooring, acoustical tile ceiling, ceramic tile, laboratory bench and top, painting, signage, mechanical and electrical work.
This project includes a project labor agreement that will be executed between the lowest responsive/responsible bidder and the East Central Illinois Building & Construction Trades Council. A copy of the project labor agreement is included in the project bid documents, General Project Requirements.

Bid documents have been prepared by Moorhead-Gruber Architects, 495 Devonshire Dr., Champaign, IL 61820, (217) 356-3414, the professional services consultant. The bid documents may be obtained from them by depositing a check in the amount of $60 for each set, payable to them.

Prequalification
Each bidder shall prequalify with the owner in accordance with the General Instructions to Bidders (Document 00200).
All bidders shall be prequalified with the owner. New bidders that are not prequalified shall prequalify using the owner's web-based Contractor Annual Prequalification System (CAPS)- http://notes.ocp.uiuc.edu:8888/
The project will be administered using the owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team collaboration in management and interaction, as well as team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Thursday, March 31, 2005. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.
Pre-Bid Meeting
A pre-bid meeting will be held in the Main West Lobby - Freer Hall, 906 S. Goodwin Ave., Urbana, IL, at 10:00 a.m. prevailing time on Tuesday, March 22, 2005. Representatives of the owner and the professional services consultant will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
