The Board of Trustees of U of Illinois Facilities Planning and Programs hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the ISR Townsend Hall Elevator replacement project at the Urbana campus project.
Project Description
The project consists of the removal of two existing 6-stop hydraulic elevators and replacement in the same hoistways, including redrilling of the existing jack casings. The existing hoistways shall be extended at the roof line to meet current code requirements. Ancillary work includes mechanical and electrical work.
The Contractor will ONLY have access to the site for construction as follows:
South elevator - Start May 16, 2005 - Substantial Completion - August 5, 2005
North elevator - Start May 15, 2006 - Substantial Completion - August 4, 2006
The project includes a project labor agreement that will be executed between the lowest responsive/responsible bidder and the East Central Illinois Building & Construction Trades Council. A copy of the project labor agreement is included in the project bid documents, General Project Requirements.

Bid documents have been prepared by RATIO Severns Reid Architects, 821 S. Neil Street, Champaign, IL 61820, hereinafter referred to as the Professional Services Consultant. The bid documents may be obtained from the Professional Services Consultant by depositing a check in the amount of $50 for each set, payable to the Professional Services Consultant.

Prequalification
Each bidder shall prequalify with the owner in accordance with the General Instructions to Bidders (Document 00200).
The project will be administered using the owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team collaboration in management and interaction, as well as team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Tuesday, December 14, 2004. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.
Pre-Bid Conference
A pre-bid conference will be held in Room #26, Illinois Street Residence Hall, 918 W. Illinois St., Urbana, IL (enter at the loading dock and proceed downstairs to basement) at 10:00 a.m. prevailing time on Tuesday, December 7, 2004. Representatives of the owner and the professional services consultant will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
