The Board of Trustees of U of Illinois Facilities Planning and Programs hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the I Building Remodeling project at the Urbana campus project.
Project Description
The project consists of remodeling of approximately 26,200 s.f. of the INHS/I Buildings 1st/2nd Floor for new offices, associated support spaces and library. Work consists of demolition of existing ceiling, partitions and finishes. New metal studs, acoustical insulation, gypsum board, aluminum entrances and frames, hollow metal frames for doors and windows, prefinished wood doors, hardware, glazing, suspended acoustical ceiling tile, resilient tile, carpeting, rubber base, toilet accessories and plastic laminate casework and countertops. Mechanical/Electrical work includes plumbing, fire protection, HVAC systems, electrical service and power, lighting/ communications, fire alarm work and balancing of air and hydronic systems.

Bid documents have been prepared by Smith/Burgett Architects Inc., the professional services consultant. The bid documents may be obtained Dean's Superior Blueprint, Inc. by depositing a check in the amount of $150 for each set, payable to Smith/Burgett Architects Inc.

Prequalification
Each bidder shall prequalify with the owner in accordance with the General Instructions to Bidders (Document 00200).
All bidders shall be prequalified with the owner. New bidders that are not prequalified shall prequalify using the owner's web-based Contractor Annual Prequalification System (CAPS)- http://notes.ocp.uiuc.edu:8888/
The project will be administered using the owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team collaboration in management and interaction, as well as team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Tuesday, April 19, 2005. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.
Pre-Bid Meeting
The pre-bid meeting date has been changed from March 29, 2005 to April 7, 2005
A pre-bid meeting will be held in the ground floor level of the atrium of the I Building, 1816 South Oak Street, at 10:00 a.m. prevailing time on Thursday, April 7, 2005. Representatives of the owner and the professional services consultant will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
