Project Description
This project consists of constructing a new north seating addition at Memorial Stadium that includes: the demolition of existing stands and retaining walls, the relocation of existing historical plaques and a cast stone carving; excavation for a lower level; associated utility work; approximately 5,000 bench seats on precast treads and risers supported by a new concrete structure; toilet rooms and concessions complete with all appropriate mechanical, electrical and plumbing fixtures and equipment; and an adjacent truck parking/loading dock area covered by a pedestrian plaza. This new seating addition will be connected to the existing east and west stands. The new enclosed lower level area will be an unfinished space to be completed at a later date. Food service equipment will be provided by a separate package.

This project includes a project labor agreement that will be executed between the lowest responsive/responsible bidder and the East Central Building & Construction Trades Council. A copy of the project labor agreement is included in the project bid documents, General Project Requirements.

This project will be managed using the owner's web-based Construction Project Management System "PRZM."

Bid Document Sources
Bid documents may be obtained from Hunt Construction Group, Inc., 2450 South Tibbs Ave., Indianapolis, Indiana 46241, the construction manager. The bid documents may be obtained from them by depositing a check made payable to them in the amount of $300.

Prequalification
Each bidder shall prequalify with the owner in accordance with the General Instructions to Bidders (Document 00200).

All bidders shall be prequalified with the owner. New bidders that are not prequalified shall prequalify using the owner's web-based Contractor Annual Prequalification System (CAPS)- http://notes.ocp.uiuc.edu
Pre-Bid Meeting
A pre-bid meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at the Physical Plant Service Building, 1501 S. Oak St., Conference Room 128, Champaign, IL, 3:00 p.m. prevailing time. Representatives for the owner, the professional services consultant, and the construction manager will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
Bid Opening
Immediately after the closing time for receiving bids, all proposals will be publicly opened, read, and tabulated at Room 128, 1501 South Oak Street, Champaign, IL 61820. Noted errors, omissions and defects will be announced. Bids received after closing time will be returned unopened. The public opening and reading is for information only and is not construed as acceptance or rejection of any bid.
Bid Acceptance or Rejection
The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids or any part thereof, to waive any informalities in the bidding, and to accept the bids deemed to be in the best interests of the owner after all bids have been examined and evaluated.
Statutory Requirements
The successful bidder will be required to comply with all laws, statutes, regulations, ordinances, rulings or enactments of any governmental authority that are applicable to the work or to the project. The successful bidder shall pay prevailing wages and shall utilize equal employment opportunity hiring practices in connection with this project.
