Project Description
The project consists of the remodeling of the 2300 and 3300 quadrants of the Architecture and Design Studios Building (Building 628), located at 845 W. Harrison Street in Chicago, to create four new design studios and additional faculty offices. Each quadrant contains approximately 6,100 square feet of space for a project area of 12,270 GSF. The scope of work includes demolition of existing partitions, lighting and ductwork, construction of new partitions, installation of new ductwork, VAV boxes and DDC controls, installation of new lighting, and installation of new finishes. There are no existing ceilings and the structure will remain exposed in the new remodeling. The character of the remodeled space will be similar to the recently remodeled space directly below on the first floor. An existing handicapped lift on the second floor will be removed and a new ramp installed at the existing stairs connecting the 2300 quadrant to the main building. An existing ramp on the third floor in the same location will be slightly modified. New handrails will be provided at both the second floor and third floor ramps.
