To replace failing high temperature hot water infrastructure and increase reliability of this utility service for the south campus, the Owner desires to replace sections of the existing direct-buried piping serving the heating needs of buildings in this area of campus. This Project consists of installing new 12? HTHWS and 12? HTHWR piping along the north side of Roosevelt Road from the existing vault (VLT-02) on the west end of the intramural practice fields to the existing vault (VLT-03) within the parking lot for the Roosevelt Road Building (621). The new piping will consist of a pre-insulated conduit-type system and be direct buried under the intramural soccer fields and directionally bored under Halsted. The existing 8? HTHWS and 8? HTHWR will be removed as required for installation of new piping, but largely abandoned in place. The piping within the vaults will be replaced and reconfigured to support the installation of the new piping and future connections for the future Advanced Chemical Technology Building. Modifications to the vaults will also be made as indicated on the Contract Drawings.
This Project is located at: University of Illinois at Chicago on the Northwest and Northeast corner of Roosevelt Road and Halsted Street, between Newberry and the Roosevelt Road Building (621),
Chicago, IL 60612.
