Project Description
The UIC College of Engineering (CoE) Building 629 Project consists of a new stand-alone building on the UIC East Campus. The site is at the southeast corner of Taylor Street and Morgan Street on the north side of Parking Lot 5. The existing site is a flat parking lot. There are no existing buildings on the site. The base building design is approximately 50,500 SF with two (2) add-alternate additions which would bring the total area of the building to approximately 57,500 SF. The building includes spaces for students, researchers, and faculty: a high-bay structural testing lab for the Civil and Materials Engineering (CME) Department, research laboratories and offices for the Chemical Engineering (CE) Department, research laboratories and offices for the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) Department, research laboratories/computational labs and offices assigned to the Dean of the College as flexible space, and general building functional spaces. The project has a USGBC LEED (version 2009) goal of Gold level certification. The existing SES (Science and Engineering South) building to the east houses a highly vibration sensitive microscope and the labs in the CoE Building 629 will contain vibration sensitive equipment as well.

A MANDATORY pre-bid meeting will be held in Room. 243, 2nd Floor of Building 963 located at 1140 S. Paulina on 09/06/17 at 2:00 pm prevailing time. All prospective bidders are REQUIRED to attend.

This Project is located at: 945 West Taylor Street - Southeast corner of Taylor and Morgan Streets.
