Project Description
The project consists of a complete gut and remodeling of floors 3, 4 5 and mechanical attic for the East wing of the UIC Pharmacy Building. Asbestos abatement and mass demolition of ductwork, casework, flooring, ceilings and structural steel fire insulation for floors 3, 4, 5 and Attic Penthouse areas. Complete removal of five existing air handling units and associated ductwork in the attic and on floors 3, 4, and 5. Removal of existing electrical motor control center. Installation of two temporary mast hoist units (by G.C.) to allow for all material removal and deliveries for the duration of the project. Materials cannot be loaded thru the building since the existing single elevator is not capable of supporting a project of this size. Installation of a new mechanical AHU penthouse unit on the roof of the existing penthouse with associated new steel stairs and ductwork connections to existing duct risers. Installation of two temporary air conditioning units to provide ventilation to floors 1 and 2 for the duration of the construction project. All new VAV air distribution ductwork with associated controls for 44 new 6-foot low flow fume hoods. New casework and all new walls and doors, floors ceilings and lights, plumbing, gas piping and D.I. piping for completely remodeled chemical labs on floors 3, 4 and 5. Casework and hoods will be furnished and installed by the Owner, to be coordinated by the G.C.
