Project Description
The current second floor laboratory space will be renovated and includes new walls to create a dedicated corridor and three laboratory spaces. Walls separating labs will have new passthrough interlock cabinets. Work also includes new flooring, new acoustical ceiling, new interior paint, new doors and hardware, new signage and industrial curtains and window shades. NOTE: 1. Dean's Suite on first floor will be vacated for 1 month during which work directly above on second floor will occur during regular working hours. G.C. to be responsible for removing, storing and reinstalling all ceiling tiles in the Dean's office work area. 2. Any work that is required above the first floor corridor MUST be done after 5 p.m. The corridor ceilings must be re-installed at the end of each night so that the general public sees a normal corridor during the day. 3. HVAC system must continue to be operational for the offices located to the East of the project. 4. All Tables, Hoods, sinks, faucets and pass-thru cabinets in the labs will be provided by a University Vendor and will be the responsibility of the G.C. to coordinate without contract assignment. 5. The general contractor to salvage several entire wooden lab benches (quantity TBD). G.C. will be required to dis-assemble them in order to fit in the elevator and deliver them to the South Dock. UIC will move them from the dock into storage for future sale to alumni. This Project is located at: Midblock on Wood Street, between Polk and Taylor Street, Chicago.
