Project Description
The project consists of the construction of a new 12,000 sf Hospital Lobby Addition to be built over an existing plaza/basement and renovation of approximately 8,000 sf of existing adjacent spaces. The Lobby is a 2-story addition plus mechanical penthouse that will become the new Main Entrance to the Hospital. The first floor of the new Lobby will include a custom designed Reception Desk, elevators to the 2nd Floor, a communicating stair, seating areas and planters. The 2nd Floor will include a Contemplation Space, a Pastoral Care Suite and modifications to existing spaces to allow for future bridge connection to a future building to be constructed directly across from the Hospital on Taylor Street.

Site improvements include sidewalks, planters, landscape, curbs, paving, stairs, ramps, etc. and street and sidewalk modifications outside the property line.

The Project will be executed in multiple phases and all work must be carefully coordinated and executed so that all areas of the Hospital including existing entrance, conference rooms, cafeteria and lobby on the 1st floor and main electrical vault, clinical space, offices and main hospital kitchen on the lower level remain fully functional at all times. All existing spaces must be maintained watertight at all times.

The Project will seek to meet and track a USGBC LEED Gold level of certification.

Project is located at the University of Illinois Hospital at 1740 W. Taylor Street in Chicago, Illinois 60612.

A MANDATORY pre-bid meeting will be held in Conference Room 243, 2nd Floor of the Paulina Street Building located at 1140 S. Paulina Street, Chicago, IL 60612 on 03/05/20 at 10:00AM prevailing time. Representatives of the Owner and the Professional Services Consultant will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are REQUIRED to attend.
