This is a FIELD DIRECTIVE for mass excavation for Design Center is stalled due to need for appropriate earth retention system at the northwest corner of the basement, at the area way, to protect existing 42" diameter chilled water lines near the north area way wall. The sheet pile earth retention system included in the Division 15 contractor bid is being replaced with a drilled, H-pile earth retention system which can be located adjacent to the north wall of the area way (further from the piping).

Project Description
This project consists of construction of the new Design Center, which is comprised of approximately 60,000 gross square feet of building, two (2) levels; Ground level and Basement level. This new work includes general, plumbing, heating with temperature control work, ventilation, electrical, sprinkler, concrete, site, structural steel and window construction, as indicated on the Contract Documents. Work specifically included in the Division 15 - Concrete Re-Bid shall be as indicated in the Bidding Requirements and Scope of Work dated 27 July, 2018. The Bid Documents for this Division 15 Re-Bid include the Bid Documents dated 2/21/2018, which include Drawing Sets numbered 1 through 4, Specification sets numbered 1 through 5 and the following Addenda issued during the 2/21/2018 bid period: Addendum 1 dated 2/28/2018, Addendum 2 dated 3/7/2018, Addendum 3 dated 3/13/2018, Addendum 4 dated 3/20/2018 and Addendum 5 dated 3/23/2018. It also includes Bid Documents for the Division 27 - Sitework dated 16, May 2018 and Addenda issued during the 5/16/2018 bid period: Addendum 1 dated 5/23/18 and Addendum 2 dated 5/25/18.

This Project is located at: The project site is located along 4th Street, at the west end of an open campus green known as the Military Axis. The site is bounded by 4th Street to the west, the pedestrian sidewalk located just south of Huff Hall to the north, the existing Art+Design parking lot to the south, and a point approximately midway between 4th Street and 6th Street to the east as indicated on the Contract Documents. Utility extensions to connect to existing campus utilities will extend beyond these general project boundaries - extent as indicated on the Contract Documents.
