The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from commissioning engineering firms to provide professional services for the South Campus Mixed Use Development project.

Description of Project
The South Campus Mixed Use Development project consists of the following two sub-projects:

Sub-project I - Convocation Center, including dining and Kitchen Facility, Auditorium, and Retail - Project No. 698-704-04. The Convocation Center will provide a meeting and performance venue that will seat approximately 3,000 people for performances or 1,000 people in a dining venue. The facility will also include; three large meeting rooms which can be reconfigured into larger spaces, a full kitchen which will serve the Convocation Center as well as the Student Residence Hall, a March�-type Dining Facility which will mainly serve the Student Residence Hall, and an Event Center which has a raked auditorium with seating for about 150 people, and about half of the 20,000 GSF of Retail Space.

Sub-project II - Student Residence, including Retail and Office - Project No. 698-705-04. The Student Residence facility will include 750 beds of student housing; including associated residential life support spaces such as meeting and learning spaces and social spaces. Within the Student Residence building will be 20,000 GSF of new commercial or university office space and approximately half of the 20,000 GSF of retail space along Halsted Street.

The university may select two engineers, one for each sub-project, or one engineer for the entire project.

Firms should submit four (4) copies of the following: a letter of interest, a copy of its CDB prequalification letter, and a 255 form (use CDB SF 255 (latest version)) by Monday, September 27, 2004, addressed to:

Minimum Qualifications
Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an engineer/architect in the State of Illinois
  • Pre-qualified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board, at the time of submittal.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in Illinois
  • Able to provide documents in an AutoCAD format
