Description of Project
This project will consist of the upgrading of the Urbana-Champaign Residence Halls to meet the requirements of NFPA 101 - Life Safety Code 2000. A feasibility study was completed in June, 2003 which will form the basis for this project. The project consists of adding sprinkler systems, with associated piping, conduit and wire, and chase repair work to four high rise residence buildings and of updating fire alarm notification appliances (new fire alarm control panels, devices and associated conduit, wiring, and equipment.) for six residence hall complexes. The residence halls include:

  • Florida Avenue Residence Halls (Trelease & Oglesby) - (Sprinkler and Fire Alarm)
  • Illinois Street Residence Halls (Wardall & Townsend) - (Sprinkler and Fire Alarm)
  • Gregory and Peabody Street Residence Halls (Synder, Scott, Weston, Garner, Forbes & Hopkins) - (Fire Alarm only)
  • Pennsylvania Avenue Residence Halls (Blaisdell, Saunders, Carr & Babcock) - (Fire Alarm only)
  • Orchard Downs & Orchard South - (Fire Alarm only)
Professional Services Consultant Submittals
Firms should submit one hard copy and one electronic copy of a CDB SF 255 form. Electronic copy shall be submitted (in pdf format), using the submit button on the UOFP&P website (see below). Hard copy shall be submitted to the address noted below. Deadline for receipt of both hard and electronic submittals is 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2004.

The professional services consultant selection will be consistent with the Architectural, Engineering, and Land Surveying Qualifications Based Selection Act (30 ILCS 535/1).

Minimum Qualifications
Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an architect in the State of Illinois
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible system
