Description of Project
This project will install fire suppression systems in the Library stacks and throughout the Undergraduate Library, in an initiative designed to correct NFPA 101 Life Safety Code deficiencies, protect occupants, and protect rare, valuable resources. Neither facility meets current Life Safety Code requirements due to construction, utilization, and contents.
The Library is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and it houses millions of volumes in its 11 stack levels. The Undergraduate Library is a multi-story, underground facility that serves as the main source of reference materials for over 28,000 undergraduate students on campus. Construction activities in both facilities will be phased to maximize occupant accessibility to resources while minimizing risk to those resources.
Interested professional services consultants should demonstrate qualifications indicative of prior experience in the successful design and project execution of fire suppression systems in historically significant facilities, library stacks, and institutional facilities.
Professional Services Consultant Submittals
Firms should submit one hard copy and one electronic copy of a CDB SF 255 form. Electronic copy shall be submitted (in pdf format), using the "submit" button on the UOFPP website. Hard copy shall be submitted to the address noted below. Deadline for receipt of both hard and electronic submittals is 4 p.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2004.
