Project Description
The University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a Professional Services Consultant for the construction of a new modular building, to be built on the east side of Halsted Street between Roosevelt Road and Taylor Street, for the College of Engineering which may be approximately 90,000 gross square feet in size. The building is intended to accommodate a variety of programs, including but not limited to a high-bay structural testing laboratory, wet labs, dry labs, student spaces and office space. The scope of the work will include, but is not limited to, review of pertinent feasibility reports, soil boring reports, or other engineering reports and an analysis to help determine if the entire building should be connected to the central campus utility plant, provided with standalone utility services, or a combination of both. As part of the analysis, conceptual phase planning and partial schematic design will be required. In addition, the scope of work will include analysis and feasibility of sustainable building systems that might be included to assist UIC in pursuing its climate commitments. The conceptualization phase will establish the scope of the work for the project. After a successful Conceptualization/partial Schematic Design phase, the PSC may be authorized to proceed with the ensuing phase(s) of design development documents, bid documents, bid/award, construction administration, and warranty, following the University of Illinois Board of Trustees' approval. The project will be designed to LEED Silver at a minimum with LEED Gold as an aspirational goal.
