Project Description
The University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking professional services teams to design an architecturally significant Center for the Arts?the program for which currently includes a main stage theater and a concert hall, which serves as a gateway and bridge between UIC and the world, and as a destination for innovative arts and cultural production. The Concept Design Competition Phase will produce compelling conceptual and visual material that provokes discussion about the roles of arts, design, and architectural production in contemporary culture, represents the cutting-edge work of the Schools in the College of Architecture, Design, and the Arts (CADA).

There will be a two-phase Architecture/Engineering Team Selection process for this Project. The University will review the responses to the QBS Advertisement and will schedule Skype interviews with a long-list of approximately eight firms in January 2018. Following the interviews, the University will invite three firms to participate in a Concept Design Competition. The three firms will be asked to develop and present a design concept for the Center for the Arts based on the Project brief provided by the University. Design concepts will be presented through appropriate visual documentation that will include renderings but not a model. A concept design construction estimate will also be required. Compensation for this phase of work will be $50,000 per team.
