The University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign seeks an professional services for design, bidding, and construction administration of a project located at the Krannert Art Museum. The Museum is a 72,209 GSF building that was constructed in three building projects; the original building was constructed in 1958, followed by additions to the building in 1968 and in 1988. Construction in all three phases consists of a steel structural frame with masonry exterior wall assemblies. The aging of the mechanical systems over the past 20-30 years has resulted in reduced effectiveness of the HVAC systems evidenced by a lack of temperature and humidity control throughout the building. A facility study has been completed which evaluated the operation of the building's HVAC system and the condition of the building envelope. The performance of the building's mechanical systems is currently inadequate to accommodate the extensive collection of the Museum and does not meet the standards for indoor air quality required by many traveling exhibits. As a result the Museum has not been able to schedule and host several important traveling exhibits.
