Amendment Amount: $176,092

This Amendment #03/Field Directive 0001 includes documentation of additional scope as requested by DIA for Bid Package 3. In March 2021, the BOT approved a budget increase for the additional scope. This will require accelerated design efforts to maintain the project schedule and accommodate the Board of Trustees meeting dates for Bid Package 3 construction contract approvals. A field directive is needed to maintain the project schedule. There is limited time between the March 2021 Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting which approved the budget increase for added scope, and the scheduled release of Bid Package 3 construction documents in April. Construction was carefully planned around the building's typical use and is scheduled to begin in April 2021.

This Amendment will increase the HNTB contract value from $2,771,800 to $2,947,892.

The Chief Procurement Officer for this procurement is now John Donato.
The State Purchasing Officer for this procurement is now John Knittle.

Project Description
The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking a Professional Service Consultant (PSC) to provide the planning, design, bid/award, construction and warranty phase services for the Ubben Basketball Complex Expansion. This project proposes a building addition to the south, east and west sides of the existing facility. This project will expand the basketball practice courts to include two additional half-court areas. It will also create an opening between the men?s and women?s courts so the sides can be shared when only one team is practicing. The existing basketball courts will be renovated with new flooring and equipment. The lower level will provide a complete sports medicine area with treatment and recovery areas including hydrotherapy pools. It will also include new locker rooms, player lounges, team meeting rooms, and other team amenities. The project will convert the existing office and team areas into a large training area and a study room, that will also be used for team dining. A new entry will be created off of St. Mary?s road. This entry will include a circle drive and parking for recruits and their families as well as a large glass enclosed recruiting lounge complete with memorabilia, uniform, and shoe displays. The entry level will also provide new coaches offices and meeting rooms. The facility is anticipated to double the size of the current facility. The interior of the existing facility will be extensively remodeled as well.

This project anticipates the use of early bid packages that may include site work, utilities, foundation and steel.
This project anticipates both construction phasing and occupancy phasing.

Other items incidental to the scope of work include:
Design and select Audio/Visual equipment(A/V) and Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) to be purchased and installed by the Contractor as required to adequately serve the needs of the project. Assess and provide geotechnical engineering services and survey work to determine the subsurface soil and groundwater conditions and all surface features of the project site. Selective demolition including structural, mechanical, and architectural will be necessary in linking the new addition to the existing structure with procedures for hazardous material assessment and regulated removal to be included as part of this effort. Coordinate and provide any infrastructure needed to support the University selected Art in Architecture for this project.

Project Location: 1750 South 4th Street, Champaign, Illinois, 61820.
