Project Description
The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois is seeking a professional services consultant team for the conceptualization, design, bid award, and construction phase services for the Doris Kelley Christopher Illinois Extension Center project. The Doris Kelley Christopher Illinois Extension Center will be located on the intersection of Hazelwood Drive and Lincoln Avenue, in Urbana, Illinois. Doris Kelley Christopher Illinois Extension Center is not eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

The University of Illinois Extension aims to consolidate extension programs currently housed in several buildings on campus and in Champaign into a new centralized location proposed to be named the Doris Kelley Christopher Illinois Extension Center. This new Extension Center is to be located on the current grounds of the University of Illinois Arboretum at the intersection of Hazelwood Drive and Lincoln Avenue as identified in the 2017 Campus Master Plan and the 2021 Arboretum Master Plan.

The Doris Kelley Christopher Illinois Extension Center aims consolidate extension programs currently housed in several buildings on campus and in Champaign into a new centralized location. The new Extension Center will be designed to deliver practical education programs in five broad areas:

Energy and environmental stewardship Food safety and security Economic development and workforce preparedness Family health, financial security, and wellness Youth development

Operating within the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES), the Extension Center will be the home to nine main user groups/departments:

Agriculture and Agribusiness (AAB) Natural Resources, Environment and Energy (NREE) Community and Economic Development Family and Consumer Sciences 4-H Youth Development Integrated Health Disparities Information Technology Communications Administration

Project Location: Current grounds of the University of Illinois Arboretum at the intersection of Hazelwood Drive and Lincoln Avenue
