for furniture for the Lincoln Residence Hall Public Areas (Bid # AP1701).

General Construction
It is the intention of these specifications to secure for the University of Illinois at Springfield high grade furniture of such construction, design and finish as will be appropriate for institutional service and wear. Furniture lines from established, reputable manufacturers of high quality commercial furniture suitable for institutional use are preferred. Standard household construction is not acceptable.

Furniture Groups
Items described in this bid are intended for use in several adjoining areas and are grouped accordingly: 1) Cafe, 2) Multipurpose Room, and 3) Seminar Rooms. Items intended for use in a given area have been selected to complement and coordinate with each other in style, design finish and appearance.

Design Considerations
Design, styling, and appearance are essential attributes for the items specified in this bid. Proposed alternates must be compatible with and enhance design considerations. Fabrics and finishes specified are considered equally essential and must be maintained.

Bidder Qualifications
As part of this bid process, bidders must submit 1) a statement of qualification which outlines the manufacturer?s ability and experience in producing and delivering furniture items for use in Residence Hall or similar environments, and 2) a list of no less than 10 institutional or commercial references (including contact information) to whom the manufacturer has previously provided similar or greater quantities of these or similar items. The university reserves the right to reject bidders based upon evaluation of these materials and references.

Bid Evaluation
Bids will be evaluated by the Director of Housing in consultation with the Campus Director of Physical Plant, project architects and designers, and other appropriate University Officials. Styling and design features will be essential considerations in bid evaluation. In addition bids will be evaluated for compliance with specifications, ability to meet the required delivery schedule, appropriateness for use in campus housing lounges, bidder/ manufacturer qualifications, price, and other stated items. Prices will be evaluated on the basis of both price per piece, and price per group.

Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) eligibility number is required on all bid proposals.
