a contract for
Don Hamerman Photographs
an estimated $30,000.
The vendor provides distinct and unique photographic interpretations, which are the defining element of the publications the Beckman Institute produces. Continuity of look is essential to the visual uniformity in the Annual Report.
Don Hamerman provides technical skill and equipment required for the Beckman Institute projects. These include, but are not limited to: camera formats ranging from 35mm to 120mm, in aspect ratios from 1:1 to 1:3, as well as a 360 degree "immversive VR" format for viewing on the internet. Lenses include optics from fisheye to extreme telephoto and a variety of medium format equipment for "macro" photography. In addition, the vendor has developed special lighting devices for phtotgraphy in the Beckman Institute labs, including a modified laser pointer and specialized "table top" photo lights.
The vendor has ten years experience working with the scientists at the Beckman Institute in the labs, which contain expensive, highly sensitive, state-of-the-art equipment. He is the only vendor allowed unsupervised access to certain labs because of the sensitve equipment and the confidential nature of projects they contain.
The University sometimes requires a print of a previously taken picture to be sent overnight to the Beckman Institute. The vendor maintains a photographic file of pictures taken at the Beckman Institute labs and can accommodate this requirement.
At the sole option of the University, the University reserves the right to renew this contract annually through fiscal year 2011, based on a continuing need, the availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
