The University awarded a contract for Veterinary medical services.
Provide equine medical testing, artificial insemination, ultrasounds, and other veterinary services to the University for mares and foals after delivery.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) 30 ILCS 500/1-13 (b)(5): Except as provided in this subsection, the provisions of this code shall not apply to contracts for medical supplies, and to contracts for medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by Southern Illinois University or the University of Illinois and at any University operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment and medication for students, faculty and staff.
