The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois on behalf of the Illinois Library Computer Systems Organization (ILCSO) seeks sealed proposals from qualified vendors to provide some or all of the products and services listed below for the benefit of the students and faculty in ILCSO member institutions of higher education. Awards will be made for the period January 2005 through June 2006 with the option to renew for eight additional annual renewal periods at the same terms and conditions based on satisfactory performance, continuing need, and availability of funds.

ILCSO is interested in licensing some or all of the following digital library software products:

  • Digital Object Management Software (DOMS) to be used to store and manipulate the digital objects in member library collections, whether locally produced or acquired. The digital objects to be managed include, but are not limited to, photographs, maps, digitized historical documents, artwork, movie clips, engineering drawings, and distance learning information.
  • Federated Search Engine capable of simultaneously searching multiple electronic resources and providing consolidated, de-duplicated, and organized sets of results. Such systems are also known as cross-domain search engines, one-search systems, or metasearch systems.
  • Link Resolver capable of linking citations from electronic abstracting and indexing databases, an integrated library system, or other searching tool to a library's licensed, full-text electronic resources, regardless of the provider of either the citation or full text resource.
