The University awarded a contract for student health insurance.
This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which the need for services to protect or further University interests was immediate and use of other competitive source selection procedures under the Illinois Procurement Code could not have been accomplished without significant risk of causing disadvantages to the University.
The University has entered into a contract with United Healthcare Service, Inc. to provide student health insurance coverage for the 2014-15 academic year (August 21, 2014 -- August 21, 2015) under the emergency provisions. United Healthcare is the issuer of the University's student health insurance plan for the 2013-14 academic year.
