The University awarded a contract for an Electro Spin Resonance (EPR) Spectrometer.
The School of Chemical Sciences EPR Lab needs to purchase a complete EPR Spectrometer System, Model EMXplus CW, plus installation and performance certification in location to be specified.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This purchase is for a research-grade Electron Spin Resonance (EPR) spectrometer with capabilities provided by only one manufacturer. The USA market for EPR spectrometers offers only three vendors: Bruker, Adani, and Magnettech. However, only Bruker BioSpin Corporation makes a fully featured EPR system for advanced research.
