The University awarded a contract for Modified Wet Distiller Grains (MWDG) to Archer Daniels Midland, Decatur, IL, for an estimated $26,000.
MWDG is needed for the feeding of University of Illinois owned cattle for research purposes. Distiller Grains can be wet or dry, with wet containing primarily unfermented grain residues (protein, fiber, fat and up to 70% moisture).
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the
items are needed for trial use or testing.
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign currently has four research projects whereby the cattle are being fed MWDG from Archer Daniels Midland. Consistency and reliability in research testing is needed to provide accurate testing results.
