The University intends to award a contract for research study of a fortified noodle product to International Relief & Development, Inc., Arlington, VA, for an estimated $31,195.
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the
National Soybean Research Laboratory will carry out a research study to measure the acceptability and feasibility of a fortified noodle product in Cambodia. International Relief & Development (IRD), the on the ground non-governmental organization (NGO) partner, has a strong presence in Cambodia, working to strengthen the country's food processing capabilities and to provide fortified food products for children and low-income consumers. IRD will coordinate the study in Cambodia, provide training to the local noodle producer on food quality and assurance and will carry out frequent inspections to ensure that appropriate standards are maintained.
