The Board of Trustees of Western Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the remodeling of servery - general contractor project (Bid # R050439).

Poject Description
The project consists of the interior remodeling of the South Quad servery which serves the Washington and Lincoln residence halls as well as a new (and yet unamed) residence hall. The University will assign the contracts for plumbing, heating/air conditioning, ventilation, and electrical to the general contractor.

The project will be awarded by the following divisions of work (this is not a complete description of the extent of the work and is presented for informational purposes only):

a. General Construction Work: Provide selective demolition, concrete floor patching, masonry, miscellaneous steel carpentry, finish carpentry, casework, hollow metal doors, frames and hardware, special doors, glass, gypsum drywall systems, floor and ceiling finishes, and specialties as further outlined in the construction documents.

b. Plumbing Work: Provide a complete system of supply and waste water piping, plumbing fixtures, floor drains and all other materials, specialty items as outlined in the construction documents.

c. Heating and Air Conditioning Work: Provide a complete modification to the existing steam piping system and miscellaneous specialty equipment and systems as outlined in the construction documents.

d. Ventilation Work: Provide a complete system of ventilation, modification to the existing ventilation system, power ventilators and miscellaneous specialty equipment and systems as outlined in the construction documents.

e. Electrical Work: Provide a complete system of electrical distribution, conduit panels, switches, wiring, fixtures, etc. including all special equipment and systems as outlined in the construction documents.
Completion Schedule
New Dishroom: Substantial completion - January 15, 2005; Final completion - February 15, 2005. Remaining areas: Substantial completion - July 15, 2005; Final completion - August 15, 2005.

Pre-Bid Conference
A pre-bid conference will be held on Friday, September 10, 2004 at 10:00 am. The conference will be held on the campus of Western Illinois University, University Union building, Algonquin Room, Macomb, IL.

Bid Dates
Bids will be received until 1:40 pm (local time) on September 17, 2004 for the Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Electrical portions of the project. Bids for the General Work portion will be received until 1:40 pm (local time) on September 20, 2004. Submit all bids to Western Illinois University, Purchasing Office, Sherman Hall 227, 1 University Circle, Macomb, IL 61455.

Bid received after the above times and dates will be returned to the bidder unopened.

Statutory Requirements
The successful bidder will be required to comply with all laws, statutes, regulations, ordinances, rulings or enactments of any governmental authority that are applicable to the work or to the project. The successful bidder shall pay prevailing wages and shall utilize equal employment opportunity hiring practices in connection with this project.

Bids will be received up to the hour of 1:40 PM local time, on Monday, September 20, 2004. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.
