The Board of Trustees of Western Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the replacement of cooling towers project.
The contractor and all subcontractors shall pay the prevailing wage currently in force in this area for all craft trades and workmen employed in the execution of this contract. A list of the current prevailing wages, as published by the Department of Labor, is included in the bid documents. For the duration of the contract for this bid, should the prevailing wage rates be revised by the Department of Labor, the revised rates shall apply to the contract and be the responsibility of the bidder. In the event of a change in the rates, the University will notify the contractor and the Subcontractors of the revised rates. In addition, all contractors' bonds must include provisions to guarantee that if the prevailing wage rate is changed during the course of the contract, the revised rates will apply to the bonds.
Bids will be received up to the hour of 1:40 PM local time, on Thursday, March 17, 2005. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.
A pre-bid meeting will be held on March 8, 2005 at 1:30 pm local time. The meeting will be held in the Grigsby Physical Plant conference room.
