The University awarded a contract for Digital Selecta Trio.
The Digital Selecta Trio is an all-in-one laser system with three lasers. A neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (Nd YAG) is a crystal that is used as a laser medium for solid-state lasers. This type of laser is used improve a patient's vision after cataract surgery. Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) is used with glaucoma patients and a photocoagulator for retinal procedures. This is the first and only Nd: Yag, photocoagulator, and SLT combination laser that can capture live images and videos while connecting seamlessly with documentation and electronic medical records (EMR) systems. It also allows titratable on-axis/off -axis illumination of vitreous opacities.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The Digital Trio is an updated version of a Lumenis Trio that the University has owned for the past eight years. This platform has a 12 inch touch screen that shows live images and videos of procedures without needing a co-observation tube. The Digital Trio minimizes staff and administrative time through unique digital capabilities. The Lumenis team of engineers can offer direct remote support as needed, ensuring minimal downtime for clinical practice.
