The University awarded a contract for medical supplies.
This purchase is for required supplies that are used in a variety of Perpheral Vascular Interventional procedures including PV balloons, Stents, catheters, guidewires, and other interventional medical supplies. Without the required peripheral vascular supplies, the surgeons will not be able to perform and provide the proper level of care for patients. In addition the patients will go elsewhere for there care and the University will be losing revenue.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) We negotiated the price to keep same price as year 2017, which is 21% off the list price
